Re: Linksys Redeemed - Sort Of
by
Anonymous
I have also had a terrible time with a Linksys Wireless Router. The wireless signal strength is outstanding. I can even get 40+mbps in my basement. The problem is that the router drops out. It's like it will assign DHCP addresses to the computers on the network, and it will dish out the internet connection, but after a few minutes, it kills everything. The computers on my network will lose their connection to the internet and network. The only way to fix it is to reset the router, but it then starts all over again.
About 5 years ago I bought, of all things, a Microsoft router (wired). It has been oustanding for me for 5 years. I have never had to call support. It just keeps working. I rarely get packet loss. For the first year I had it, I had to reset it every month because of packet loss, but I discovered that my modem was causing the problem. Once I got the new modem, everything has been golden. I haven't reset the thing is years and everything still runs at top speeds.
Never thought I'd say this... but I wish Microsoft still made routers!
